FLORIDA DIABETES CAMP

Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) is the nation's permier pre-health honor society dedicated to encouraging and recognizing excellence in pre-health scholarship, leadership and service. The UF chapter serves the Gainesville community through volunteerism, health advocacy, and philanthropy. AED is partnering with and supporting Florida Diabetes Camp (FDC), a nonprofit organization that provides life-changing camp experiences and support for children living with Type 1 diabetes. 

Satchel's is happy to help AED as it raises approximately $20,000 each year for Florida Diabetes Camp through student-led fundraising and philanthropy initiatives.

ALACHUA COUNTY SCHOOL NURSES

The Alachua County Public School Health Services program provides professional and compassionate health care to students during their school day.  Their mission is to promote and maintain the physical and mental well being of our students to ensure their success at school.  As nurses, they encourage healthy lifestyles.  School health staff follow Health Handbook procedures, which are updated by the School Health Advisory Council.  The School Health Plan is also updated yearly and outlines specific nursing interventions for the school year.  Parent and staff involvement and input is welcome.

Satchel's is providing the Alachua County Nursing Staff a back to school lunch in appreciation for all the care and comittment these wonderful health care professionals provide to the students of Alachua County.

VETERANS HONOR CENTER  

The HONOR Center (providing Hope, Opportunities, Networking, Outreach and Recovery), located in Gainesville is a state-of-the-art facility providing comprehensive homeless programs including Permanent Supported Housing, HUD-VASH, Grant and Per Diem Transitional Housing, Health Care for Re-Entry Veterans, and Veterans Justice Outreach.

Satchel's is providing the Veterans Honor Center pizzas for their monthly meetingson the first Thursday of every month. Satchel's is grateful that a center exists in Gainesville to assist Veterans with a myriad of social issues, trauma and financial counseling assistance.

to receive a total of $3000 in grants

 Satch Cares 1st Quarter 2026

Gainesville Opportunity Center  - GOC empowers adults living with diagnosed mental illness to achieve recovery through work. GOC is a community-partnership program where adults whose lives have been affected by mental illness come voluntarily to rebuild their lives. GOC operates an accredited “clubhouse” modeled program, an award-winning, evidenced-based approach to self-directed recovery. GOC helps people with mental illnesses realize goals of social, financial, educational, and vocational independence.

Blossoming Butterfly  Blossoming Butterfly Inc.,  is a nonprofit organization dedicated to education and empowerment—not medical advice—so that every cancer warrior feels seen, supported, and strengthened. BB supports individuals and families impacted by breast, ovarian, and uterine cancer by providing financial relief, wellness and recovery resources, and emotional care. From housing and utility assistance to wigs, lymphedema sleeves, counseling, and community support, BB walks alongside survivors every step of their journey. 

Florida KidSight   In Partnership with the Lions of Florida & the Bahamas, Florida KisSIght provides leadership and infrastructure for the screening of children (ages 1 through 6) to enhance the early detection and treatment of vision impairments. Florida KidSight is a FREE vision screening program administered by the Florida KidSight Foundation and Lions Club volunteers to detect vision problems that can cause Amblyopia (lazy eye) in chidren between 1 and 6 years old.

SNAP   Stop Now And Plan is an evidence-based, cognitive behavioral model powered by the minds at Child Development Institute (CDI). SNAP® helps troubled children and their parents learn how to effectively manage their emotions and ‘keep problems small’.  SNAP® for Schools & Communities is an educational curriculum provided in elementary schools focusing on topics such as  managing anger, handling peer pressure and dealing with bullying with the overall goal of increasing productive school attendance.

SATCHEL'S Round Up For Charity (RUFC) 

Bimonthly Partners for 2026

The Giving Committe has selected Satchel's Six Bimonthly RUFC Partners for 2026.

JAN/FEB 2026 partner is Alachua Conservation's Trust EcoRover - ACT began working with local disability organizations and adaptive equipment providers to develop an accessible trail program grounded in impact and empowerment. One ofthe cornerstone tools of this program is the EcoRover, an adaptive all-terrain mobility device that enables individuals with limited mobility to independently explore trails, cross difficult terrain, and experience the natural world with greater freedom and dignity.

   Satchel's other RUFC partners in 2026 will be - 

GROW HUB, Southern Legal Counsel, Streetlight UF, Therapeutic Horticulture Summer Program - Girls Can Do It Too! and Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery

   THIRD QUARTER SATCH CARES GRANTS 2025

                      RUFC AWARDS second half 2025

Satchel's awarded almost $10,000 in the second half of 2025 to several of our community nonprofits, schools and organizations.   A big portion came from YOU, our beautiful customers who Round Up For Charity when paying their tabs at Satchel's.

GOOD WORK GAINESVILLE! THANK YOU!!!

RUFC July and August $2917 was awarded to  Service Dogs For Patriots  Helps instill within veterans battling PTSD a sense of independence, confidence, and freedom through training their own service dog.

RUFC September and October   $2536  was raised for Girl's Place    Empowers girls to grow courageous, strong and self sufficient. Girl's Place inspires girls to celebrate themselves—their minds, their hearts, and their physical well being.

RUFC November and December    $2331 went to the Partnership for Strong FamiliesSPSF is contracted by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) to deliver comprehensive child welfare services to children who are victims of abuse and neglect. PSF also works with at-risk families to prevent child abuse and to decrease the risk of children entering the out-of-home care system. PSF serves nearly 5,000 children in 13 counties annually, including Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor and Union Counties.

SATCH CARES Q3 2025  

$1500 to Bread of the Mighty Food Bank  Together, we take a holistic approach to nourishing our community – rescuing surplus food, sharing it through local pantries, and empowering families through education, advocacy, and compassionate support to ensure no one goes hungry.

$500 to St Francis Vet Care   The charitable mission of St. Francis Pet Care: A Remedy Clinic is to help people in our most vulnerable communities remain together with their pets so both can benefit from the human-animal bond.  To this end, we provide primary veterinary care to the companion animals of homeless persons, veterans, and very low-income residents of North Central Florida.
