First & Second Quarter Satch Cares Grants 

and RUFC AWARDS first half of 2022

Satchel's has been able to award almost $15,000 in the first half of 2022 to several terrific local nonprofits, schools and organizations in our community. Half of which came from our amazing customers who Round Up For Charity when paying their tabs at Satchel's. GOOD WORK GAINESVILLE! THANK YOU!!!

RUFC January and February   $2349 for UF's design and build studio class worked with Rawling's Elementary students and teachers to build a series of unique and functional projects on the elementary school campus

RUFC March and April    $3339 was raised for The Florida Springs Council who bring policy, law and scientific experts together to advocate for Florida's world-class Springs and Spring-fed Rivers.

RUFC May and June    $2524 went to the  Civic Media Center a community-based nonprofit that serves as a resource for progessive grassroots organizing, activism and public awareness to Gainesville.

SATCH CARES Q1 2022  was awarded to four local organizations.

$1300 to Brave Harvest Farm for an accesibility facelift. Brave Harvest empowers and inspires local families to eat more vegetables through gardening and cooking.

$1000 to Gainesville High School Home Run Club for a new windscreen for the baseball field.

$1200 to Glen Springs Elementary Robotics Club to help send award-winning 5th grade robotics members to the Robotic's World Championship in Dallas

$600 to Good News Arts in High Springs to help fund their after school arts program Good New Arts is a community arts space and gallery that collaborates with artists and citizens to provide contemporary arts education.

SATCH CARES Q2 2022  was awarded to four community partners

$1000 to Bread and Roses Well Women Care. This award will supplement patient procedure costs as well as allow B&RWWC to purchase gas/food/pharmacy gift cards to distribute to their many out-of-state patients. 

Pizza and salad lunch for all campers and staff of Gainesville Girl's Rock Camp

Pizza and salad lunch for students from the Graphic Arts and Design program at the Loften Academies  who volunteered to help with mosaics and other projects at Grow Hub

Salad for Current Problems supporters and volunteers for all their hard work keeping our local waterways clean.

CAPITAL 2021, 4th Quarter Satch Cares Grants 

and RUFC AWARDS for 2022

SATCH CAPITAL for 2021 goes to WOMBAT radio We are all enjoying the variety of local, regional, national and  international music (and that weather report!) as we tool around Gainesville with our windows down. The WOMBAT is awarded fees from our ATM machines which raised $2588 in 2021. Thank you to our customers for helping out and keeping local radio going in Gainesville.

4th Quarter 2021 SATCH CARES GRANTS which total $1700 go to -

Children Beyond Our Borders - CBOB is  establishing a podcast streaming service to share convenient, inclusive and reliable information that will address public health-related challenges faced by Hispanic children and their families in Alachua County.

Our Santa Fe River - Our Santa Fe River is striving to develop a native river plant growing unit to compliment the Agri-Science Program at Fort White High School. Outdoor growing unit would serve as a classroom laboratory.

Earth Givers dba We are Neutral Gainesville-based environmental nonprofit has 14 years of experience helping businesses and individuals understand, track, reduce and offset their comprehensive carbon footprints

Through RUFC - Round Up for Charity - we were able to raise over $16,000 for six important local nonprofits in 2021. Partnership for Strong Families, Alachua Women Build, One Love Prison Meditation, Matheson Museum/Gainesville Writer's Alliance and GRACE Marketplace. When you use a credit card at Satchel's or Lightnin Salvage Enterprises you can always Round Up for Charity and give a little which adds up to a lot!

The awards for 2022 Round Up for Charity are - 

JAN/FEB - UF Design and Build with MK Rawlings Elementary  UF School of Architecture students work with 4th & 5th grade students at Rawlings to design and build outdoor structures for students to learn and enjoy.

MAR/APR - Florida Springs Council FSC works for better overachieving protections for all springs as a whole, and also use our combined resources to provide support guidance whenever and wherever the health of a particular spring is threatened.

MAY/JUN  - Civic Media Center CMC hosts political education and cultural events, fostering community and public access and education in Gainesville for almost 30 years. Volunteer-powered and grassroots funded.

JUL/AUG - King of the Springs  KOTS was created to promote exploration of Florida's wild spaces, teach the public about FLA ecosystems and wildlife, and encourage everyone to protect these areas.

SEP/OCT Community Weatherization Coalition CWC helps our neighbors reduce their home energy and water bills and improve their quality of life by engaging volunteers in building community and learning together.

NOV/DEC Southern Legal Counsel SLC is a statewide not-for-profit public interest law firm that is committed to the ideal of equal justice for all and the attainment of basic human and civil rights.
